Team Communication Channels Template for Agencies

This template gives you a simple channel structure (ops, delivery, sales) plus a short set of rules that keeps chat useful instead of noisy.

Tip: Keep client comms out of internal channels. Use a portal, email thread, or a dedicated guest channel with strict scope.

Channel list (copy/paste)

  • #announcements — read-only updates from leadership
  • #ops — process, tooling, resourcing
  • #delivery — delivery blockers + weekly priorities
  • #sales — pipeline updates + handoffs
  • #support — internal help/questions
  • #wins — outcomes + shoutouts
  • #client-ACME — (optional) guest channel with clear scope

Rules of engagement

  • Use threads. New message = new topic.
  • Default to asynchronous. Tag only the owner.
  • No “drive-by” asks. Include context + desired outcome.
  • Decisions go to the system of record (PM tool / doc), not buried in chat.
  • Daily: clear unresolved pings. Weekly: archive unused channels.
